Heating and thermostats
Smart thermostats can be fitted to an existing heating system, radiator-based or underfloor, and allow room-by-room, schedule-based heating control, which is especially useful for holiday homes or properties used less often.
Sockets and appliances
Smart plugs and relays let you switch certain appliances, a water heater or a pool pump, for example, remotely, and keep an eye on their consumption.
Blinds and shading
Existing motorized blinds or shutters can also be upgraded with a smart module, enabling scheduled opening and closing, for instance timed to sunrise or sunset.
When do you actually need new wiring?
If you want a function that never had wiring in the first place, a switch or sensor in a new location, for example, some electrical work is unavoidable. The same applies if the goal is a full KNX-level, centrally controlled system: that's genuinely worth it for a new build or a full renovation, where wiring can still be planned freely rather than adapted to what's already there.
What does the installation process look like?
It starts with a short needs assessment: which functions you want to control, and what the existing electrical setup looks like.
